As an avid reader, owning my own store has always been a dream. Honestly, watching Beauty & the Beast as an adult made me want a library of that size for myself. I told myself that I needed to find a way to make that a reality. After many, and I mean MANY brainstorm sessions in my basement, I decided I needed to apply for a loan to open the greatest bookstore and make my dream move from the paper to a physical store. And so began my journey to become a business owner.
I began down the path of the unknown. I filed paperwork for the business and looked into a loan. I scouted out a store front in my local town and began daydreaming about everything I wanted to do to it. But then I hit a wall; no loan to open the store and I hit a bump with my paperwork. I was about to throw in the towel and walk away from my dream.
Then as luck would bless me, I found a woman selling her online bookstore(holy cow!). After reaching out and starting down a fast-paced chat with her, I bought the entire store inventory!
With the help of my friends and family, I was now the proud owner of a now closed down online bookstore. My basement had zero space now that there were stacks of books everywhere. And then I began again on the paperwork to make this bookstore come to life.
I had help, support and the inventory. It wasn't a physical store but it was a start. And so The Broken Spine Bookstore was born. It currently lives on this website, Pango Books and eBay with the goal of moving into its own physical store.
